About the TECT cheque
Each year, TECT sends out cheques to approximately 56,000 Consumers in the Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty area. The cheques are made possible from the Trust's 26.8% shareholding in Trustpower and other investments.
Trustees send out a Distribution Plan for consultation each year. This determines the level of the TECT cheque and the eligibility criteria for that year. In 2017, TECT distributed $28m to 56,238eligible Consumers. The payment is tax-free to Consumers.
