Tauranga Moana Nightshelter Trust

The Tauranga Moana Nightshelter Trust was created in 2010 in response to the issues of homelessness in Tauranga City.  Their aim was to provide the homeless people in the City with temporary shelter and access to services designed to break the cycle of homelessness and offer hope of a better future for themselves and the community.

In July 2014, TECT funding enabled the Trust to purchase the Youth Hostel Association facility at theon Elizabeth Street East.  With 39 beds over 11 rooms, ample bathroom and laundry facilities, a range of indoor spaces, large kitchen, good outdoor spaces and an onsite accommodaiton unit, provides a suitable venue for the Nightshelters' activities.
