There are a few things that determine an organisation's ability to apply for TECT funding. We've developed an interactive Q&A to take you through the key eligibility criteria and guide you towards the appropriate fund for your needs.

1. Is your organisation a non-profit entity?

A non-profit entity can be any of the following:

  • Registered Charity
  • Incorporated Society
  • School
  • Amateur Sports Organisation

2. Has your organisation received TECT funding in the last 12 months?

Only one grant will be approved to an organisation in any 12 month period regardless of which funding scheme is being applied to.

3. Are your organisations' accounts required to be audited or reviewed?

Your Trust Deed, Club Rules, or Constitution will specify whether or not your annual accounts are to be audited or reviewed.

TECT requires a copy of your latest financial statements including the auditors report or independant review report where applicable.

If your organisation has elected at an AGM not to have the accounts audited or reviewed, a copy of that minuted resolution is required.

4. Are you applying for funds toward the purchase or build of a new facility, or a significant upgrade of a current facility?

Community Events

Application closing date is on a monthly basis

The Community Events Fund aims to support community events held in the Tauranga or Western Bay of Plenty region that provide social and economic benefits to the community. TECT wishes to support a wide and varied portfolio of events and encourage event organisers to achieve and maintain events of exceptional quality.

Small to medium community-led events must apply for funding via the Tauranga Western Bay Community Event Fund. This fund is a collaboration between Acorn Foundation, BayTrust, Tauranga City Council, TECT and Western Bay of Plenty District Council to provide a streamlined approach to the support of community events taking place in the region. The fund provides financial support to events that are community-led and enrich our communities. Applications are considered on a bi-monthly basis. Learn more and apply HERE.

Applications for large events, such as City Flagship Events and new events of national or international significance, will still be submitted directly to TECT on a monthly basis. Please contact our office for further clarification.

Thank you for your enquiry

TECT will consider applications from organisations who are in the process of applying for charitable status.

In some circumstances TECT may consider applications from groups that operate independently but come under the umbrella of a qualifying organisation.

Please contact our office to discuss whether or not your organisation/group qualifies.

Thank you for your enquiry

In some circumstances TECT may consider applications from non-beneficiaries. This normally occurs when an organisation doesn't have its own office or is a national body applying on behalf of a regional organisation or is part of a national project.

It is possible that becoming a TECT beneficiary may be a condition of any funding granted (usually for new facilities).

Please contact our office to discuss whether or not your organisation/group qualifies.

Thank you for your enquiry

Even if you haven't been able to find a fund that suits, we may still be able to help!
Please contact our office to discuss your project or funding needs and our team will help determine your eligibility, and which funding scheme may be appropriate.

Thank you for your enquiry

TECT only funds one application per year for any organisation. Groups who normally receive operational funding and have a one-off facilities project may apply for an exemption. Please contact our office to discuss.
